Keeping the Faith

It's 4 something and I can't sleep as usual. Usually I try to stay away from the Internet when I've taken a sleep aid, but here goes. Donna recently called me out about not blogging, so this one is another attempt at keeping up with this. Geographic thought. Hmm, well right now bed sounds pretty sweet, but I know that won't work yet.

School has proven very testing for me, and I must admit, I can't wait for it to be over. Core Humanities? What the hell does that even mean? I don't enjoy faith/religion being spoon fed to me. I got "confirmed" in the Catholic Church and that was enough for me. The title of the class says a lot to me. Like, this is going to be a complete waste of your time and money.

But I have enjoyed my classes in the Geography department, and I'm not kissing ass when I say that. Many who read this, know of the ups and downs I had while being a student here. I think this program is great and I would never have seen half of the things in this region if it weren't for Field Methods, Mountain Geography, etc. But now after this class I'm stuck with the humanities and Spanish. Lame.

Perhaps you are wondering what the significance of the picture on the top of this entry is? The dog in the picture is my little Sierra, and she keeps getting out of her bed, giving a loud sigh and nudging the door to my study area open with her nose to see what the hell I'm doing at 5 am. Also, that happened to be one of the best sun sets of my life, so far.

Yesterday I found out I will be going to the far reaches of Quebec, near the tundra, where it will be light out for 21 hours of the day. It will be for work and should be really cool (no pun intended). That should also make for some interesting cultural geography, which will probably be influenced by not freezing your ass off.

Well, the sleep aids are somewhat taking effect. I would say good night, but instead I'll say good morning and I hope all that read this have a good Friday. Yes that means especially you, Donna!

Well, Kevin, I must say that I love the photo of you...drink in hand cigar is it? in mouth and big ass grin on your face.
I am, however, seeing a bit of a pattern with that picture the one of you and a buddy, then Sierra on the beach with a bottle of wine or champange (how does one spell that word?)
Maybe instead of sleep aids you should consider laying off the sauce : )
No, really though the trip to Quebec sounds like an excellent cultural experience; perhaps you should keep up the blog while you are there so as to bring us all there with you. I personally would love to know about their colors, by that I mean the food, cultural dress, little things endemic to the region etc.

Hey, Kevin. Is that a boxer? Used to have a boxer, Ginger. Was the best dog. Sorry about your isomnia, perhaps you should take up running. Or maybe you can become a professional night time blogger or a day trader. Lots to do at 4:00. I prefer to sleep. I, too am looking forward to this semester being over. Good luck in Quebec. Will you have time to travel to points east? New Brunswick? Canada is beautiful and the people are great.

I'm taking a Core Humanities right now! And I've got four questions left to answer by midnight. I've got a decent Professor if you want a recommendation. It's not all about religion....it is history - art, literature, war, music, and a look at the thinkers of the past. I've got Spanish to finish as well. I agree with what you say about the Geography Department - i've had some awesome experiences and have been able to learn so much great stuff about this region. I started a blog/photo album of Geography Trip photos...no text yet. Friday was a good day...thnx

Those early morning hours when you don't want to wake your spouse and are unable to catch the major zzzz's are the perfect time for blogging -- I loved the early entries, but I'm feeling separated from reality and from your contributions to the blog world.

I swung by for a final viewing of the semester, but it's slim pickings, though I've enjoyed some of the earlier entries. Hope you get back to the regular stuff!
